A Simple but Beautiful Lunch Wedding at Rainforest Café
I had the pleasure of photographing the lovely wedding of Kenny and Dao at the Rainforest Café at D'Resort @ Downtown East! Fun fact, I was actually engaged by Kenny's lovely sister (Hi Eileen!) because they loved their brother too much to let his big day go without a professional photographer. How sweet is that!
A chilled couple and the Best Wedding Planner
I communicated with Kenny and her sister via zoom prior to the wedding to make sure I understand their needs accurately. And it was easy to tell Kenny and Dao are on e of the chillest couple ever who could care less about trifling details and just want to marry the love of their life in the easiest and most budget efficient way possible.
Eileen (Kenny's sister) became their wedding planner and decorator and she did an absolutely smashing job! Not only did she deliver on the vibe, she also did it in the most budget friendly and aesthetical way possible.
The beautiful Bride...
The photographer heart in me was so happy I managed to snap these "Pre-Wedding" shots of the beautiful Dao at the venue itself. I must say, the Rainforest cafe @ DownTown East is a really photogenice venue!
A Simple but Aesthetic Wedding
Sometimes it's hard to tell if a photograph looks good because the photographer is good or the model is beautiful. I like to think in this wedding, both is the case! Haha!
Kenny and Dao wanted a very simple luncheon to celebrate their love and invite their loved ones to share in their joy and every corner of the wedding exemplifies that belief. When you have a tight knitted group of family and friends who love you as much as the couple's does, your wedding needs no unnecessary decorations.
Which is why I always advise couples to spend their money on a few big decorations that can immediately change and alleviate the vibe of the space rather than spending a lot of money on little details that the guests might not even notice. This function room just behind the Rainforest Cafe at Downtown East is a lovely space with light brown wooden grain walls and greyish carpet. It was obviously designed to be utilitarian and suitable for a myriad of purposes. But with a few choice statement furniture pieces and the addition of premium designed balloons, the space is alleviated into a soft romantic wedding space instantly!
Rainforest Cafe @ DownTown East
I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful the venue space at Rainforest cafe @ Downtown East was. The full length window allowed beautiful natural light into the space and was surprisingly photogenic. Plus, the catering food they offered at the luncheon was entirely respectable and delicious too! You can check out the Rainforest Cafe's catering menu on their website here.
Well loved Couple
It's a beautiful sight to behold when a wedding couple is truly well-loved by their family and friends. The warmth and affection that emanates from everyone around them creates a palpable sense of celebration and joy. It's infectious, and it fills the air with a sense of camaraderie and goodwill. When the love between the couple is reciprocated by their guests, the vibe of the party becomes electric. It's not just about the music, the food, or the decorations - it's about the people. And when the people are happy and full of love, the party becomes an event to remember. The atmosphere at Kenny and Dao's wedding was so alive with energy and happiness that it's hard not to get swept up in the moment!
Couple Portraits
I always encourage my couples to set aside some time during or after the wedding ceremony for some wedding portraits. I don't ask for much, just give me 30 minutes (or 45 minutes if travelling is necessary) to create some extra magic to remember their big day. It might seemed like a hassle when you have a hundred and one things to remember and do on your big day, but I assure you it will be so worth it!
Perfect venue ...
After the ceremony and lunch, we ventured out for some couple portraits. There was a little garden just behind the Rainforest cafe @ DownTown East and we took the chance to grab a few shots before Dao changed back into her white gown. Mega thanks to Kenny's sister for her awesome skirt flipping skills, look at the magic we were able to create together! Such a lovely couple and family!
Pasir Ris Park and Why a Professional Photographer Matters
We discussed their photography requirements before the wedding and I went ahead and did a bit of research to find the best possible location that is not just photogenic but easily accessible and within arm's reach. I always try my best to do as much of the planning before the wedding - this is to ensure efficient use of time and avoid wasting time dawdling, deciding what to do and where to go.
Sometimes people wonder why do I go the extra mile to do things like this. I do as much of the photography planning as possible to allow my couple to enjoy their wedding to it's full extend and not have to worry about their photographs at all. Sometimes photographers forget that their clients are not photographers and do not understand what makes a picture good, and that's where we step in to help them. I am not just there to snap pictures, I am there to help my clients capture the most important day of their lives in an authentic, aesthetic and stress free manner. To me, these are not just photographs, they are heirlooms and an piece of someone's life that should not be taken lightly.
Perfect weather and landscape at Pasir Ris Park
We got really lucky with the weather that day as the air was breezy and the light was absolutely gorgeous! Cloudy but bright sky is one of the absolute best sort of light for portraits and I definitely felt like God was smiling down on us!
We also passed by a stretch of green space that was filled with beautiful white flowers on the ground. Totally unplanned but you bet we jumped at the opportunity to get some lovely white "floral confetti" wedding portraits at Pasir Ris Park!
I selected a stretch of Pasir Ris Park that was not only close to a carpark but also featured a beautiful variety of natural landscapes, beige beach and shimmery Sea in the background! I love Singapore so much because even though we are small, it's has so much photographic options to offer!
It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of Kenny and Dao's special day as their wedding photographer. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to capture the beautiful moments that they will cherish for a lifetime. Their love for one another is truly inspiring and it was an honour to witness and document through my lens. I wish both of them a lifetime of love, happiness, and laughter together.
Thank you again for choosing me to be a part of your special day. Congratulations, Kenny and Dao!
