Mong Hun & Yeh Ling’s Joyful Chinese Wedding in Singapore | Li Bai Restaurant, Sheraton Towers
Some weddings are extravagant. Some are deeply traditional. And then there are weddings like Mong Hun & Yeh Ling’s — where everything comes together in a way that feels effortless, meaningful, and genuinely joyful.
A Playful Gate Crash at the Bride’s Home
The day began with a traditional Chinese gate crash in Singapore at Mong Hun's home.
It was lighthearted and full of laughter — the kind of chaos that’s fun, not stressful. Friends rallied together to “help” the groom, challenges were negotiated (and occasionally bargained 😏), and the whole atmosphere felt relaxed and celebratory. These moments are always some of the most candid parts of the day — nothing staged, just real reactions, real energy, and a lot of personality.
Chu Ge & Visit to the Groom’s Home
Following the gate crash and receiving of the bride, Mong Hun officially “chu ge” (出阁)! It's a meaningful moment symbolising her leaving her family home and beginning a new chapter. We then headed to the groom’s place, where the couple shared sweet Tang Yuan together. It’s a small gesture, but one filled with symbolism — wishing the couple a life that’s sweet, harmonious, and filled with good things ahead.
Making Time for What Matters — Couple Portraits
Even with a full schedule, Mong Hun & Yeh Ling made space for portraits — twice!
We managed to capture:
- A bright outdoor session with the bridal party, full of movement and energy
- A second, more intimate couple shoot before dinner, quieter and more focused
These small pockets of time are always worth it because they give couples a moment to pause in the middle of a busy day — and create images that feel a little more personal and intentional. I absolutely love the shots we got with the wedding party - such a fun gang of friends!
Solemnisation at Li Bai Restaurant, Sheraton Towers
The day then continued at Li Bai Restaurant, Sheraton Towers Singapore, where the solemnisation and tea ceremony was held.
Having the solemnisation at the same venue as the dinner kept things smooth and stress-free. Guests could arrive, settle in, and be fully present for this important moment.
The setting felt elegant and intimate — a beautiful and intimate space to officially mark the start of their marriage.
A Thoughtful & Elegant Banquet Celebration
Following the solemnisation, the evening transitioned into the wedding banquet at Li Bai Restaurant.
The space was definitely on the more extravagant and traditional side, but what stood out was the intention behind it. Mong Hun & Yeh Ling chose Li Bai because they wanted their guests to truly enjoy the food and the experience — and that generosity could be felt throughout the evening. It didn’t feel like a show. It felt like a heartfelt celebration shared over a really good meal.
