A beautiful maternity and family session

Upper Seletar Reservoir is a beautiful location for outdoor portraits. I had the pleasure of photographing Kaelyn and Haikal's lovely little family last august at this beautiful location, the lush greenery and serene waters provided the perfect backdrop for capturing their family memories.

It was an extremely hot morning but we were blessed with beautiful sun rays that added such a warm and even ligh!

Kaelyn and Haikal are a beautiful pair and obviously each other's soul mate. It was such a pleasure getting to know them and photographing this milestone of their lives.

Little A was a little shy at the beginning but it didn't take long for him to warm up and show his playful personality. I believe in allowing kids to be kids and seldom restrict them during a portrait session. With the wonderful Kaelyn and Haikal's involvement in engaging him, we were able to create some truly delightful shots of this little family together. We captured some candid moments of them exploring the area, playing with bubbles, and even playing with dirt

Peek a boo!

Let kids play!

Anyone who has engaged with a young child before will know how difficult it is for them to stay still! They were created to run, laugh and learn about the world through their grubby little fingers. Expecting them to stay still for the entire portrait session is definitely asking for the sky.

Which is why i always try to weave a little bit of play into the session. Let the child roam the place, play with the plants and dig at the dirt ... let them do whatever they want (of course, within reasonably safe conditions) and you will get a much happier and obliging child.

In the picture above, I was playing peek a boo with Little A. I absolutely loved how we were able to get such a funny and natural expression!

The lighting at Upper Seletar Reservoir that day was absolutely stunning, and it added a soft, warm glow to the photos. The natural setting of the location made for some really lovely photos, with the family blending beautifully into the surroundings. Little A wasn't always game for photographs so we would give him a break while we capture mom and dad together.

Overall, the family outdoor portrait session at Upper Seletar Reservoir was a delightful experience. Kaelyn and Haikal were such a wonderful family to work with, and the location provided the perfect backdrop for capturing their love and affection for one another. It was a privilege to be able to document their family memories, and I hope that these photos bring them joy for years to come.
